Grab your midlife magnifying glass and join me in the analog closet (Seven Minutes In Heaven optional) to figure out how much we've changed and where the F we're going.
I saw someone write, “I think midlife is just being who you were at 16, but loving her this time,” and then I read your post and it’s like the universe is validating everything I’ve been feeling lately. Can’t wait for these journals to get rolling!
YAAAAS! I shared that quote on my wall not-too-long ago, saw a variation of it again on here the other day, and then a dear friend forwarded it to me yesterday as well. The universe (and/or algorithmics?!) is kind of amazing...feeling like I'm really finding my people thru this whole thing. Thanks for being here! xx
I’m moving to a smaller home in a different country, and over the next two weeks I’m going to be choosing what goes with me and what goes to the landfill. You have inspired me to save stuff.
I’m moving back to Canada. I’ve been there since October as a trial, but moving for sure and buying a house there. Sure, packing tips would be great. Also, another reunion would be fantastic.
Congrats on the leap. I don't blame you for getting out, and hope it brings you peace and love and all the good things. This life, man. Do you still have diaries or similar? I know I have a yearbook inscription or two from you, complete with your hilarious French (or was it Italian gondola?) stamp!
As a fellow GenX artifact enthusiast, I am so freaking excited for this. Also: I completed the First Concert assignment on my Substack a few months ago. Somehow I managed not to shrivel up and die of embarrassment, but I probably deserve to: https://janeroper.substack.com/p/dear-diary-billy-joel-rules
Omg, I love it! I was also obsessed with Billy Joel back in the day (and hello? My name is Alexa and my husband's name is Joel so we are basically Billy's daughter). I acquired the taste early as my parents played The Stranger and Piano Man on the turntable constantly during my first decade of life. (Confession: When I was little, I thought Piano Man was a duet and the falsetto vocal was a woman.)
Alexa Joel!!! You lucky woman. My parents had Piano Man in their LP collection and I used to be mildly afraid of the cover, where Mr. Joel looks like an animated corpse head. Also: An Innocent Man was the first cassette I bought with my own cash money. WE ARE THE COOLEST.

Where are you moving and do you need any additional packing tips? Hit me up, old friend!
