Deep Cuts
Introducing a new Q&A opportunity. Because the B-sides were always the best part...
Every Gen-Xer has an archive. Not just published books or bylines. I’m talking about the old diaries and photo albums gathering dust in a storage space, the unsent letters (or the ones we wish we’d never sent), the mix tapes that somehow survived three moves and multiple breakups … all the things that make us want to give our younger selves a hug, or a high-five, or both.
We kept everything, and that doesn’t make us hoarders — it makes us Gen-X!
That’s why I’m introducing Deep Cuts, a Q&A series where we dive into what’s gloriously over, what’s just beginning, and what — against all odds — still holds.
With each installment, I’ll sit down with a writer, artist, or other creative (which, honestly, includes all of us … yes, I’m talking to YOU!) from our generation and ask them to pull up something from the archive. A yearbook photo. A diary entry. An excerpt from a book or article or poem or song they wrote. A piece of art. A version of themselves they haven’t introduced in a while.
Then, we’ll talk about things like who they were back in the day, which versions of themselves they miss (and don’t miss), what they love(d) most about being Gen-X, and so much more!
It’s a chance for us to say: “Take a look at me then…” and: “Take a look at me now.”
If you’re a Gen-Xer and would like to participate, please don’t be shy! Just message me and/or comment below with a bit about you and what you’re currently working on or where readers can find you, and I’ll send you the questionnaire!*
That’s it! That’s the post.
Can’t wait for you to join the party — and feel free to forward this to others who might be interested.
xx
* For now, I will be running these Q&As as regular written posts, but I may turn it into something more life-like and podcast-y down the road…

I'm married to a Gen-Xer. Does that count?! /s
Love this idea!
Love this! My friends and I recently had a girls night at my house and we went through all of my old cassette tapes and yearbooks- it was nostalgic and somehow healing. Well done on creating a space for this!
